Australian Progressive Rock

(Kind of like the British version, except not as good at cricket.)

Based in Melbourne, Australia, The Merlin Bird play a sort of atmospheric rock that draws on elements of classical, Middle-Eastern and folk music.   They are currently working as a collaborative two-piece, which means that friends and fellow musicians come up with most of the good ideas for their songs, while they shamelessly take all the credit.

They are currently working on their new album Chapter and Verse – a process which involves lots of late nights in small rooms full of expensive machines.  They’re really, really hoping it will be out by December 2011.
